Combustible Dust - A Very Real Threat to Your
Facility:
OSHA estimates that over 30,000 U.S.
facilities, in all types of industries, are at risk everyday for a major combustible
dust explosion.
The threat of an industrial explosion in your facility is
very real. For this reason OSHA recommends - and in some steps requires -
manufacturers to use a certified explosion proof or dust ignition-proof vacuum
as part of their regular plant maintenance program.
If you can eliminate the dust, you can eliminate
the explosion hazard. During plant maintenance, the traditional practice
of sweeping or blowing actually increases your chance of a combustible dust
explosion. Incorporating a specialized industrial vacuum into your plant's
maintenance program is one of the best ways at helping to prevent a combustible
dust explosion. However, in many cases these vacuums – with their
electric motors and metal parts – could produce a dangerous spark (electrical or static) which may actually cause the explosion. Simply put,
when it comes to safe plant maintenance, not just any vacuum will do . . .
Protect yourself from Combustible
Dust with a Field-Proven
Legally Certified, Explosion / Dust Ignition-Proof Vacuum
Facts About Explosion
Proof / Dust Ignition-Proof Vacuums
- True explosion proof or dust
ignition-proof vacuums should be engineered from the ground up to prevent
combustible dust explosions
- All parts should be grounded and
built from non-sparking materials – from the outer shell to the switches,
motor, filters, and accessories
- Beware and be careful of vacuums that are promoted as explosion
proof or dust ignition-proof vacuums. These units may only be standard models with a
few antistatic options added on . . .
- Protect yourself from an Easy to Happen
Combustible Dust Explosion with a Field-Proven, Legally Certified Explosion
& Dust Ignition-Proof Vacuum. As
the leader in dust control for over 14 years, ICS is leading the nation in
providing the safest hazardous location vacuums, filters and accessories -
Delivering total cleaning and operation solutions for both maintenance and
assembly-line productivity.

Surface
Prep ATEX 220 Volt Vacuum - "Certified"
Approved
for Dust Removal in Explosive Environments under
Atex Zone 22 Conditions.
Legally certified explosion
proof vacuum as tested and to meet standards of
safety in explosive situations.
-
Approved for Dust Removal in
Explosive Environments under Zone 22 Conditions:
·
Class II, Divisions 1, 2, Groups F & G
·
"What
is an ATEX Zone 22 Conditions?" (see below)
·
The
processing of creating dust, from any type of material,
creates the potential for a "Combustible
Dust"
explosion.
-
Air Reversal
Self-Cleaning / Total Debris Containment System (see
Vacuum Features, below)
·
Safely captures all types of combustible dust
and other explosive materials in your plant, from dry, mixed powders to fuel and solvents - without dust exhaust, without touching the
filters.
-
Machine can be attached to grinding and
sanding tools and manufacturing machinery to capture all types of dust before it becomes
airborne
-
Explosion-proof to the
core, from the outer shell to its internal parts:
·
Grounded and constructed of non-sparking
materials like 304 stainless steel, on/off switches, anti-static pleated filter,
2" x 15' copper ground wire extraction hose, etc.
- Some companies offer "dress-up"
explosion-proof vacuums with a few anti-static accessories . . .
·These types of imposter machines can still
create arcs, sparks and heat that can cause explosions
·
The ICS Surface Prep ATEX 150 Vacuum includes legal
explosion-proof certification to ensure you that every component,
from the ground up meets strict standards for preventing spark and fire
hazards.

What
is an ATEX Zone 22 Conditions?
A European Directive associated with equipment
used in and people who work in potentially
explosive atmospheres, including gas, vapors,
mist and also concentrations of dust.
Proper certification indicates that the OPTIMUM
ATEX vacuum has been tested and meets the
minimum requirements of the widely recognized
(consensus)
U.S.
product safety standard and that the OPTIMUM
ATEX vacuum is certified for use in buildings
consisting of windows and doors (as opposed to a
completely sealed building).
What
are the groups and classes of the ATEX 22
Conditions?
The National Electrical Code (NEC)
defines hazardous locations as those areas
"where fire or explosion hazards may exist
due to flammable gases or vapors, flammable
liquids, combustible dust, or ignitable fibers
or flyings." A substantial part of
the NEC is devoted to the discussion of
hazardous locations. That's because
electrical equipment can become a source of
ignition in these volatile areas.
The chart below shows the
“Hazardous Location” Class that the Optimum
ATEX Explosion Proof Vacuum is certified for
use, under ATEX 22 Zone Conditions.

Pulse'n
Shake 100% Full Force Self-Cleaning Filter System
Video
Clip - Click on the video clip below
to see how effective the filter system is, at using both Pulse (air
blasts) + Shaking (rapid vibrations. Two simultaneous operations
to completely &
thoroughly "loosen & remove" debris from deep inside the pleats
of the cartridge filter: RESTORING
100% VACUUM SUCTION - WITHIN 5 SECONDS - SIMPLY BY SLIDING A
LEVER.
Caked filters are completely and
thoroughly clean, from the inside out, by powerful airstreams. Simultaneously,
a spring-loaded piston
pounds rapidly downward on the top of the cartridge
filter, helping to loosen any debris debris that may happen to be caked deep inside the filter's
pleats - included damp concrete dust.
Within
seconds the vacuum's large cartridge filter is perfectly and thoroughly
cleaned:
-
Vacuum's suction power is restored
100%
-
Without
turning off the vacuum
-
Without
disassembling the motor head
-
Without
touching the filter
-
Without
using a compressor
-
Without
creating a mess
-
Without
losing production time.

Additional Features:
As
effective as the self-cleaning feature may be, you can expect long
operating times before you even has to engage the lever
because of the following two components:
-
Antistatic
Cartridge Filter | Filter Protection - Certified
M Class Conductive (Antistatic) Wet/Dry Polyester Cartridge Filter
(picture, left).
An aluminum layering on the cartridge filter discharges or repels
electrostatic forces that are generated when vacuuming dust,
especially very fine particles. With an extremely smooth surface
on the filter, dust easy slips off the filter when Air Reversal is
engaged - helping to further ensure a thoroughly clean filter.
-
Cyclone
Shield - Cartridge Filter Protection (picture, bottom right).
Patented stainless steel protector that keeps over 80% of the
extracted debris from coming in contact with the cartridge filter.
The shield is especially beneficial when you consider the application
of removing floor coatings (adhesives, tar, sealers, etc.) and what
the damage of these materials can do to a filter.
Additionally, the shield
also assists in creating the cyclone whirlpool inside
the tank while its precise spacing (its distance from the cartridge
filter) guarantees a well-balanced flow of air: The spiraling
high speed around the shield is dramatically reduced to a low speed on
the base of the shield to stop the ascend of dust from being
drawn-up into the pleats of the cartridge filter.

Heavy-Duty
Features:
| 23
Gallon Stainless Steel
Dust Bins - Single and Dual Tank Models. Large collection
capacity + filtration improves job site productivity.
The collection capacity of concrete dust is 200+ pounds. The dust bin
dismounts quickly and have roll-away wheels for easy disposal of the debris. Mini
Model (uses plastic bags). A trap door, beneath the powder
coated steel tank, opens and closes automatically - allowing the debris
to fall into the plastic collection bag. |

Simple
Electronic Motor Head Operation
- Motors have independent, lighted switches that allow the motors to be run
separately. A vacuum performance gauge
on the motor head monitors the vacuum's suction. FACT:
The cartridge filter is shielded from dust caking by the Cyclone
Shield. The shield's efficiency is so effective:
