About the Inventor

Ted Segiel, Jr.

In 1999, I was approached by the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers (BAC).  They asked me to help them find a way for their members to cut and grind masonry products - without the dust.

After a year or so of researching, testing, and learning - I realized that what the skilled trade wanted just didn't exist . . .  The dust control tools that were available simply weren't any good . . . they were not worker friendly and they hindered productivity.

Later, I received a phone from Ed Frieze, Safety Coordinator, Local 9, Pittsburgh.  After I told him about my findings, he said, "You'll not just be selling another tool . . . by coming-up with the right dustless solution, you'll be helping to save lives."

That struck a chore with me . . . so I proceeded into the "design" phase of my research. 

All of the dust control tools, and many of the other products on this web site, were designed specifically for the BAC.  Everyone of the products was tested at Ed's BAC Apprentice Training Center, in Monroeville, PA.  Their designed was with based one thought in mind:  Comfort.  For as a safety director once told me, "Give the men comfort, and they'll give me production."

Throughout the years, many of the BAC members that I have spoken to about dust control and the harmful effects of silica dust have either retired or died.  In this new age of internet marketing, environmental and health awareness, and simply just realizing the value of your life, you will hopefully find our products as legacies to those men.

In 2004, I received a patent on the Dust Director™ ( US 6,648,742 B1).  But what is even more rewarding, is the compliments I receive on the effectiveness of the products.
