Two common methods are used to achieve this goal:

	Positive Pressure Ventilation (PPV), and
	Negative Pressure Ventilation (NPV).

PPV is the more commonly accepted method of the two. It was first adopted by the fire service in the USA and is fast replacing the use of NPV.

How PPV Works
In a typical PPV application, the fan is placed about four to ten feet from the doorway of the structure and it is positioned so that the cone of air produced by the fan completely seals the opening.

Once the doorway is sealed, air pressure inside the structure builds almost instantly. An exhaust opening, usually a rear door or window, allows the air to quickly escape due to the difference between the outside and inside air pressure. The smoke, fumes and other contaminants are quickly cleared and replaced with fresh, clean air.

Industrial MAX-20 Fan extracts interior dust to the outside through Flexible Ducting. Negative Pressure Ventilation (NPV)
Is the extraction of air from a structure with suction techniques. By using a combination of flexible ducting, a Black Max Fan, and possibly a 15' Dust Containment Sock, any environment can be cleared and exhausted with NPV.

A simple and effective way to remove fumes, dust and odors from a confided area is to place a BLACK MAX FAN near the source of contaminants, connect flexible ducting run the ducting to an outside area (up to 300 feet away).
