For our Surface Dust Guards you will need an Angle Grinder, diamond grinding wheel with a 5/8-11 hub (deep well are recommended), silica dust vacuum with a minimum hose diameter of 1-1/2". Better dust control will always be obtained using a variable speed angle grinder or polisher.

Each Surface Dust Guards includes an assortment of plastic insert collars that enable you to attach either of the guards to any high speed angle grinder or polisher.

Adjustable hook-n-loop (Velcro®) Rubber Seal Edging.
Ensures that the air flows is under the hood - where the dust is generated - giving it superior dust pick-up. Low speed grinders or polishers do not even need the rubber edging. It is only required when grinders exceed 4,000 Rpm.

5" Surface Corner Dust Guard - Side View. As a diamond cup wheel wears, the Rubber Seal Edging can be moved down to last beyond five cup wheels (the seal only touches the floor's high spots).

Surface Dust Guards are built for removing glue, paint, concrete, etc. from smooth or rough concrete surfaces with superior dust pickup and easy handling . . . they actually float across the floor without any friction.

ZEC® Discs

ZEC® Discs are used to remove: Adhesive coatings, paint, glue, mastics, epoxies, etc. from concrete surfaces without loading the disc or melting the coating.

Hard plastic backing pad with 7/8" arbor. For using the Abrasive ZEC Discs, or any Type 27 low profile grinding disc, install the Clamping Nut Set - includes a raised inner nut and flush mounting outer nut) on to either Surface Dust Guard. P/N: 23283K

In the past, these low profile discs could not be used on any type of dustless shroud. Now, removing coatings is now effortless and without dust . . . using the Surface Dust Guards ~ "the ZEC's work beautiful with your guard".

Sealant Removal Cup Wheels - NO melting or loading on the cup. PCD Cup Wheels - For greater productivity and value. The PCD segments look and perform very much like the Abrasive ZEC Discs. There differences are:

Faster Removal. From a 4' x 4' square - 2 minutes to remove coating.
Smooth Finish: Will not mar the concrete finish with swirl marks.
Long Life: A PCD diamond cup wheel will out last cases of Abrasive ZEC Discs . . . plus provide faster removal.

Quick Tip: To Avoiding Angle Grinder or Polisher Burnout

If you are using the tool on difficult, sticky floors and it is slowing down so much that you smell the motor burning: DO NOT STOP THE GRINDER - IT WILL BURN OUT!

Their motors are very powerful, but they generate a lot of heat. They utilize a strong built-in fan that constants draws-in outside cooling air into and around the motor to keep the motor operating cool.

Instead of stopping the grinder: If it smells or it seems like it is running too hot, immediately lift the tool off the floor and let it spin freely for 20 seconds. This will allow the cooling process to work.

Both the 5" and 7" Surface Dust Guards include as assortment of insert collars (below) that will enable the guards to fit on to most angle grinders and polishers. In addition, the insert collars can be sanded or cut if additional modifications need to be made.

5" Corner Edge Surface Dust Guard. 5" Corner Surface Dust Guard - Surface grinds using 4" - 5" grinding discs. Two straight edges for grinding along walls and into corners, around obstacles (such as pipes or columns) and in tight areas.

Angle Grinder Combo - Surface Dust Guard with an Angle Grinder RECOMMENDATION: Use an angle grinder or polisher with a variable speed dial. As effective as the Surface Dust Guards and your vacuum may be at containing concrete dust, having a variable speed dial on the tool further reduces the creation of airborne dust - providing the finishing touches to a very effective dust control system. ICS offers three variable speed models, please see below.
