Dust Control for
Diamond Glitter Bits
Two styles of Dust Directors are available for use with
the Glitter Bits. They attach
to the neck of
a die grinder for dust-free concrete
& masonry
grinding.
Glitter
Bit - Brick Dust Director®. A 1-1/2" diameter vacuum hose is held
loosely but securely in
place. Effectively captures all of the Glitter Bit's dust. Move the hose in-and-out
of the assembly to quickly adjust the hose for total dust containment.
Glitter
Bit - Tile Dust Director. The 1-1/2" diameter vacuum hose is held
securely in place: Dust is
drawn into the window-opening, 3-square edges enable you to slide the
die grinder assembly along surfaces for precise straight-line grout removal

GLITTER BIT SPECIFICATIONS
"Finishes the job that a
diamond blade can't . . ."
|
-
Specifically designed
to cut Concrete & Hard "S-Type" Mortar.
-
Smooth Cutting . .
. Excessive force is NOT required (it is actually not recommended).
The 20,000+ RPM die grinder provides the cutting speed you need . . . Especially on hard
materials.
-
Glitter Bits are for use in Die Grinders, operating at
20000+ Rpm.
When used on a lower RPM
tools, the bit's cutting speed and life is reduced. The
20,000+
RPM Speed provides the optimum cutting
speed and life.
-
Creates at
least 200% less dust. The dust that is created
stays with a 3' square area (even without the vacuum
attachment). The dust doesn't go airborne
like that of a diamond blade on an angle grinder.

Glitter Bit Life
- Description.
Glitter Bits are specifically designed to
cut hard materials and provide long life (especially compared
to carbide or electro-plated diamond products).
As a Glitter Bit is used, the diamond crystals
are exposed - they actually glitter. When the crystals
are exposed, they are
cutting at their maximum potential.
Premature bit life will only
occur if you used a Glitter Bit as a drill bit. Diamond crystals,
in general, require high
speeds to cut and for proper life. The diamonds crystals on the perimeter of
a Glitter Bit (moving at 25000+ Rpms) are what is cutting. The crystals at
the very tip of
a Glitter Bit, moving at less than 500 Rpm, do not have the necessary "high
speed" to provide life.
Plunge-cutting a Glitter Bit
directing into masonry material (using it like a drill bit) will
prematurely burn the diamond crystals on the tip - Within a few holes the
crystals will actually glow "red". A
Glitter Bit is angled (30 - 45°'s) to start the cut.
|
Single Brick Cut-Out Procedure -
Must be used with a Vacuum *:

(Click on .pdf to download the 1 page
instruction manual)
|
1.
Start
your cut into a brick's mortar joint by positioning the 4-5/8" Glitter
parallel to the horizontal mortar joint. Angle the tip of the Glitter
Bit into the joint on a 30 - 45° angle & proceed to
cut this way, both horizontally & vertically - around the brick, to obtain a 1" depth.
2.
Maintaining the 30 - 45° angle, continue cutting by "working the bit",
using a combination of
holding the bit on the angle and rotating it in-and-out to grind the mortar.
images.)
3.
Repeat this procedure 3
or 4 times around the brick's perimeter, going 1" deep per pass, to successfully and
quickly grind
the mortar until the brick is free.
4. Remember to grind with the side
of the bit and not use the Glitter Bit as a drill bit. Never push on the bit ~ let the bit and the
20,000 RPMs do the cutting. With
a 1/4" shank, using excess force will bend the heat treated drill rod
and cause injury should the Glitter Bit snap.
*
5. Using a vacuum is not a recommendation,
but a necessity when cutting-out individual bricks. Placing
the vacuum's hose close to the work surface not only keeps the dust from becoming
airborne but, after each pass around the brick's perimeter (going 1" deep
per pass), you stop your grinding and just use the vacuum hose to remove
the dust that lays inside the brick joint.
Removing this dust drastically increases the diamond crystals' cutting
speed, performance, and life. Otherwise, you will just be pulverizing
dust.
image.)
 6.
After the Glitter Bit has completely cut through the brick's mortar joint and
the dust is removed, lightly tap on the face of the brick to simply remove the brick.

Glitter Bit Characteristics
Durability . . . How tough is it?
5/16 x 3-1/2" Glitter Bits are
used to round corners on granite counter tops (1-1/8"
thick). A template may be used - Expected bit life is 12 cut-outs
per bit.

|
Excellent for Concrete Crack Chasing
Designed
specifically to cut hard Portland Type S-Mortar . . .
Cuts
or routes-out cracks on concrete floors . . . Even on floors with
exposed aggregate or high
PSI concrete.
Excellent for concrete spall
repair projects . . . Grinds concrete from hard to-get-to areas . . .
Finished
"v" shaped, concrete crack -
Using the Glitter Bit a concrete crack is routed-out
for epoxy or joint sealant injection.
Without any airborne dust . . . Using the
Glitter Bit's Brick Dust Director.
|
Dust Control . . .
Creates Less Mess
The Diamond Tuck Pointing Bit
creates at least 200% less dust that a diamond blade.
More importantly, because of the
bit's small diameter (compared to that of a blade),
the dust that is created does not fly into the air . . . like that of a diamond
blade on an angle grinder.
The dust stays close to the surface . . .
significantly reducing your clean-up expense.
"Fantastic
for detail or intricate cut-out work around terracotta panels"

Testimonial
"A very useful tool to
have in your tool box . . ."
"I like it . . .
and just look at the diamonds glitter . . .
I've never seen
diamonds on a blade exposed or glitter like this . . . and they
glitter even more as the bit wears!
The
exposed
diamonds are what cuts . . . I like this."

The
Complete
Glitter Bit™ System
How about the Vacuum?
Yes, Glitter Bits create 200% less
airborne dust
But the dust is still created, it is
just laying in the joint . . .
Glitter Bits work best & they'll cut
significantly faster and more efficient when the dust is removed from the joint.
You'll will need a Vacuum . . . And not
just any vacuum will work.
To be sure, please see the below
Fine Powder, Dust Control Vacuums.
For Maintenance-Free, Continuous
High Power Vacuum Suction
